A Brief History

The Camp of Colors Story

A retelling, by Edral Adams

Following my mountain top experience with the Lord Our God during North Florida Tres Dias #4, I came home filled with anticipation in what God was doing through Tres Dias.  In my heart I knew Tres Dias was a ministry the Lord was using as a vehicle of love to draw His body, the Church, together in the strength only He can give. The Lord led me to an old elementary school that had been converted into an automobile salvage yard.  The building itself was of sound construction, but it had been badly negelected.  It was dark, the roof leaked, black oil and grease were everywhere.  Every room was full with a different assortment of automobile parts. The halls were lined with trash, shelves piled full of old used parts and the floor littered with parts of every description.

These very same halls which had been filled with joy and laughter of innocent children were now filled with dirty clutter and unorganized gloom.  Walking through the building, one could hardly visualize what God had in mind for this rundown trash filled building. Then God gave me the eyes to see and the spiritual ears to hear the songs of praise which would someday fill these spaces. I brought different people to view the place.  Some could see the vision and some could only see a junk yard hopelessly strewn with trash and dirt.
The vision caught on with some of us.  We became excited about the potential as the excitement spread until God had all the right people in place. They came from every place and walk:  Engineers, Electricians, Plumbers, Professional painters, Graders, and Carpenters.  But most of all He sent givers. Our next step was to approach the owner and ask if he would sell.  He not only said he would, but he would give us two years to raise the money ... interest free!!!  Thank you, Lord! I left two gold coins...to seal the deal until God would provide the money.
"But most of all He sent givers."
We began renovation almost immediately with a virtual army of free labor from the four communities using the camp: Atlanta Christian Cursillo,  Tres Dias of North Georgia,  Georgia Mountain Tres Dias and Vida Nueva of North Georgia.  Now with over $150,000 in materials and untold hours of labor,  Camp of Colors is the spotless facility you see today.
The Story of The Camp of Colors symbolizes our own lives.  Lives filled with innocence and laughter as children.  Then, usually comes layer upon layer of dirt and junk – all of which is known as sin.  The Weekend offers renovation; a chance to clean the floors of our lives and leave the dirt at the foot of The Cross, and to cover the unrepaired holes and broken pieces with the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. “And ye shall be as white as snow.”!

The Camp is constantly being improved and updated.
